The vast majority of hot water cylinders are now unvented. This is by far the best hot water storage solution available, as it is fed by mains water and delivers hot water at mains pressure. These come as direct (immersion only), indirect (single heat source), twin coil (for solar applications) or twin coil (for heat pump applications).
A thermal store is another option. These work in the opposite way to a standard cylinder, with the main body of water being primary heating water, making them ideal for multi-heat input applications.
Cylinders are typically made of stainless steel and when installed correctly and maintained, should last for 25 years. When fitted at the same time as a Worcester Bosch boiler, all components hold the same guarantee as the specific boiler fitted.
